Let's Eat!  Petersburg United Methodist Church Roast Beef Dinner to benefit the Summerfield-Petersburg Library History Room: Friday, October 21, 2016:  5 to 7pm Adults $10 each; children 6 to 12 $5 each; 5 and under free with accompanying adult.

Menu: Roast Beef, Cole slaw, applesauce, real mashed potatoes and gravy, roll and butter, choice of veggies, choice of desserts, coffee, lemonade, water and milk. Our History Room needs your support. Thank you.

Halloween 2016-The City of Petersburg will celebrate Halloween on Monday, October 31st from 6-7:30 pm. 

No Burn Notice- There will be no burning of leaves on Sunday, October 30th and Monday, October 31st, in an effort to keep our children safe. 

BLIGHT- Please be aware that the Blight Ordinance will be enforced in the City of Petersburg. If you receive notice that you are in violation of the Blight Ordinance, and the situation is not remedied within 10 days, or a hearing has not been requested within 10 days (in writing), the blighting condition may be remedied by the City, and the cost assessed against the property. Announcement: The City of Petersburg asks that you please refrain from burning leaves within the city during 11:30-3:00 on school days especially if you live near the school.  The smoke has become a problem for some of our children. We appreciate your cooperation. Thank you for keeping our children safe and happy! 

If you must burn, do not burn in the street-it damages the asphalt (City ordinance). 

7/4/13 On Tuesday, July 2nd the speed limit was decreased on Ida West Road between Whitman drive and the city limit. The speed limit is now 25 mph. Please reduce your speed appropriately as speeding will not be tolerated. 

5/1/16 Notice is hereby given that May 1st is the date by which owners, occupiers, and possessors of land in the City of Petersburg shall have complied with the provisions of Ordinance 2009-01 regarding the removal,destruction or cutting of the noted vegetation.

Cell Phones for Soldiers 

What types of cell phones Are accepted?

We will accept any type of cell phone. Gently-used cellular devices from any carrier are preferred to broken or dated devices. Proceeds are still generated from the recycling of broken and dated devices, however, the charity benefits most from recent, functioning phones. Batteries, chargers, SIM cards and accessories are not required.

What happens to the cell phones?

The cell phones are sold to a company that recycles them. The money obtained for the phones is used to purchase calling cards and free phone service for deployed and returning military personnel.


Is my donation tax deductible?

Cell Phones For Soldiers is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) company. It makes no determination of the tax value of your donation. Please consult a tax advisor. Click on the graphic above for a donation receipt.
