SPRING CLEAN UP DAY FOR CITY OF PETERSBURG AND SUMMERFIELD TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS WILL BE SATURDAY, APRIL 7, FROM 8AM-12PM AT STEVENS DISPOSAL.  No large pieces of concrete, no tires, or hazardous material.  Items must be canned, bagged, boxed, or bundled.  Proof of residency will be required.

NOTICE:  The City of Petersburg is looking for 1 resident to fill an open seat on the Compensation Commission. This requires very little time commitment as they meet once every 2 years. The Compensation Commission has 5 members and determines the compensation for elected officials, i.e. council, mayor, board of review, and is a 5 year term. Members are appointed by the Mayor and must be approved by council. If you are interested, please contact the City of Petersburg at 734 279-1210.

SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL-   As the Safe Routes to School project progresses, it is anticipated that construction will begin in June 2018.  To prepare for the construction of sidewalks, the City will be trimming and/or removing any trees, shrubs, bushes and other interfering items in the City right-of-way sometime in November and December.  To view a map of the Safe Routes project, please click here.

CITY DUMP OPEN.  The City dump has reopened for YARD WASTE ONLY for City residents only.  Please note the dump is being monitored by camera.

BLIGHT- Please be aware that the Blight Ordinance will be enforced in the City of Petersburg. If you receive notice that you are in violation of the Blight Ordinance, and the situation is not remedied within 10 days, or a hearing has not been requested within 10 days (in writing), the blighting condition may be remedied by the City, and the cost assessed against the property. The full ordinance can be read by clicking HERE.

Announcement: The City of Petersburg asks that you please refrain from burning leaves within the city during 11:30-3:00 on school days especially if you live near the school.  The smoke has become a problem for some of our children. We appreciate your cooperation. Thank you for keeping our children safe and happy!

If you must burn, do not burn in the street-it damages the asphalt (City ordinance).

5/1/17 Notice is hereby given that May 1st is the date by which owners, occupiers, and possessors of land in the City of Petersburg shall have complied with the provisions of Ordinance 2009-01 regarding the removal, destruction or cutting of the noted vegetation.
