Job Posting: The City of Petersburg, Michigan has an opening for an operator in the wastewater and water plant system.  The ideal candidate will possess a Michigan CDL license and a class D Wastewater and S-4 Water Supply license from the DEQ.  Knowledge of wastewater plant and water supply operation as well as water line repair, line tapping, and sewer maintenance is expected. This is a non-union position with limited overtime due to emergency callouts after hours.  Regular hours are 7:00am-3:30pm with winter snow hours 5-6am depending on snowfall quantity.  Weekend hours are every 4th weekend.  Residence within 30 minutes desired. This is a full time position with full benefits.  Wage determined by qualifications and experience.  Applications will be taken until July 15.  Submit to 24 E. BLIGHT- Please be aware that the Blight Ordinance will be enforced in the City of Petersburg. If you receive notice that you are in violation of the Blight Ordinance, and the situation is not remedied within 10 days, or a hearing has not been requested within 10 days (in writing), the blighting condition may be remedied by the City, and the cost assessed against the property. 5/5/2016 Notice of Property Inspection: The City Assessing Department will be visiting and updating properties in the City of Petersburg within the next 30-45 days as required by Michigan law. You will be notified by mail if your property is on the list to be inspected. A copy of the mailing can be viewed by clicking HERE.

Safety City Program: The Summerfield-Petersburg Library will not be hosting the Safety City Program this June due to scheduling conflicts and lack of volunteers. Discussions with the Summerfield Rec. Commission are ongoing to determine if other options are available.

Announcement: The City of Petersburg asks that you please refrain from burning leaves within the city during 11:30-3:00 on school days especially if you live near the school.  The smoke has become a problem for some of our children. We appreciate your cooperation. Thank you for keeping our children safe and happy! 

If you must burn, do not burn in the street-it damages the asphalt (City ordinance). 

7/4/13 On Tuesday, July 2nd the speed limit was decreased on Ida West Road between Whitman drive and the city limit. The speed limit is now 25 mph. Please reduce your speed appropriately as speeding will not be tolerated. 

5/1/16 Notice is hereby given that May 1st is the date by which owners, occupiers, and possessors of land in the City of Petersburg shall have complied with the provisions of Ordinance 2009-01 regarding the removal,destruction or cutting of the noted vegetation.

What types of cell phones Are accepted?

We will accept any type of cell phone. Gently-used cellular devices from any carrier are preferred to broken or dated devices. Proceeds are still generated from the recycling of broken and dated devices, however, the charity benefits most from recent, functioning phones. Batteries, chargers, SIM cards and accessories are not required.

What happens to the cell phones?

The cell phones are sold to a company that recycles them. The money obtained for the phones is used to purchase calling cards and free phone service for deployed and returning military personnel.


Is my donation tax deductible?

Cell Phones For Soldiers is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) company. It makes no determination of the tax value of your donation. Please consult a tax advisor. Click on the graphic above for a donation receipt.
